Final Piece : Exhibition Poster.

I thoroughly enjoyed this week. After a lot of experimenting with different colour schemes and font faces, as well as layouts and structures, I came to a conclusion about what to create for my museum exhibition poster. Here, I tried to represent a birds eye view colour coordinated structure of a building on a map which I also manipulated the colour of using a photocopier. As an aspiring architect, my exhibition was based on the creation of buildings and the psychological connection we make to various designs. As we explored various types of fonts earlier on during the week, I used a strong bold font which I found to be the most professional and clean cut looking. It brings a sense of seriousness and makes it easy to read. The black colour helps the font to stand out as the rest of the poster is of a more lighter colour scheme. Although I started off with an idea of designing a birds eye view of a building, the shapes come together quite well especially with the colours and seem more like a logo; this I think is both an advantage and disadvantage because logos stand out and are easily remembered but also, due to this the viewer may miss the point of the poster all together and see it as a type of advertisement.
This week was a very fun and creative experience for me, it allowed me to experiment and play with my creations, I have also learnt a lot about graphic design and how I can interpret it into other areas of the creative industry as well.

  1. I think your poster looks really professional. The way you've used different media like the maps and the paper makes it interesting. I think the layout works - the text on either side of the page balances it out, and the central image is aesthetically pleasing, while the architectural concept is clever. If you had time you could do the central image on Photoshop and add effects like a tonal graduation to make it look 3D and polished.

  2. I really like your poster. You have made good use of colour, creating a vibrate, eye-catching visual, which effectively demonstrates your interest in Architecture though your use of maps. Clever! Although, I would say it is quite hard to read the text written underneath "why we build" because of the font you have used. Apart from that, it is very effective :)
