Week Five: Day One

Parasitic architecture
Sworn Techtocniques

This structure is very similar to my fourth and fifth model. The repetitive use of triangles creates a sense of familiarity but due to the geometric characteristics of this shape the structure still looks very sharp and sturdy. Through experimentation I have come to realise curved, organic shapes cause a warmth and trigger senses relating to comfort whereas Geometric shapes provide a sense of confinement and power.

Using the paper models, I sketched out the shape so it would be easier for me to choose three structures which would fit the purpose of becoming a temple the most. Each form is very unique although it has similar elements like the slanted slopes on the sides.
For my second model, using card and basic triangular shapes,  I recreated the model to show the structure, levels and elements more clearly. It looks a lot like growing crystals, the unbalance of levels and the non symmetrical features of the structure  draw more attention to it.

I drew the model from different angles to visualize it in a simple and straightforward way. Where I glued the model together, those areas in the sketch look like fold of a paper; the model itself in this form reminds me  of origami; each new fold transforms the structure into something new.
